The National Service Scheme (NSS) reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. The main motto of the NSS is ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’ which expresses very simple and short but behind it lies a lot of meaning. It is very deep and suggestive and is keeping with the spirit of service for others. The expression stands for two things: Forgetting and surrendering the self, and Rendering selfless service to others. The word ‘Not’ before ‘Me’ is to reduce the self to nothing and the Word ‘But’ before ‘You’ can be expanded as follows: – “I do not live for me but for you.” “The world is not only for me but for you also.”

The National Service Scheme (NSS) envisaged to establish meaningful linkage between the Campus and the community. It provides opportunity to students for socially productive works and orients them to community service. NSS is working for integrated development of adopted villages and slums through its regular activities and Special Camping Programmes.
The NSS is under the direct control and supervision of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. An important feature of the NSS is that its programmes are organized by the students themselves under the guidance of their teachers as Programme Officers.
